The Printing Press Bar & Kitchen is a stunning city centre destination. Its restaurant and bar serve the best of the seasonal Scottish larder. Head chef Colin Fleming (who worked with the likes of Nick Nairn and Martin Wishart) said “We set out to create seasonal dishes that are bursting with the flavours of local produce. The world-class quality ingredients in Scotland are at the heart of our menus in The Printing Press”
The design pays homage to our city’s great literary history. In fact, 1840 records show that Number 25 George Street was home to John Oliphant whose descendants founded Oliphant, Anderson and Ferrier, one of Scotland’s most prestigious publishing houses. In the 1870’s it was home to novelist Susan Ferrier who was often visited by Robert Burns.
The all day menu and bar menu run from noon till 10:30pm offering delectable starters and nibbles like Native oysters with red wine vinegar & shallots, Double-cooked chicken wings with smoked whisky mayonnaise, and Gin-cured Loch Duart salmon with Katy Rodger’s crème fraîche & horseradish. Follow these with a Dry-aged Tweed Valley beef burger with cheese, bacon and caramelised red onions in a pretzel-style bun or try the more exotic spiced duck leg with creamed sweetcorn, pickled Perthshire rhubarb, and pomegranate. Like something lighter for lunch? Try one of the fresh and tasty salads – our favourite is the Grilled goat’s cheese, caramelised red onion, lamb’s lettuce, truffle dressing.
Never one to leave anyone out, kids get their own 3 course meal at the Printing Press as well as an afternoon tea designed just for them at weekends. Under 4’s eat free, and under 12’s for half price on Sundays when mum and dad treat the family to a fantastic Sunday lunch for only £19.95.
